SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

  • Twenty seven years specialized experience as a project leader and instructor providing consultation and training in unconventional operations and counter terrorism to various US military, US Federal, state and local law enforcement and friendly foreign special operations units.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Senior Sergeant of a National Guard Special Operations enhanced reconnaissance-direct action element, responsible for training/leading forty personnel in the conduct of specialized operations with emphasis on specialized urban combat.  Led a 36-man Troop. Planned the employment of assault elements in all phases of special operations in permissive, uncertain, denied, or politically sensitive areas throughout the CENTCOM AOR while conducting operations in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT).  Specialized in Close Quarters Combat and Personnel Recovery.  Responsible for the training, performance and professional growth of 24 assaulters and 12 RECCE personnel.   Also responsible for the training, professional, and tactical development of a Battalion Commander and his staff and 3 RECCE/DA Company Commanders and their staffs.  (2003-2005)

  • Project Manager for the development of an integrated special operations training facility designed to train and sustain counter terrorism, law enforcement special operations, military special operations, specialized emergency response and operations versus weapons of mass destruction (WMD). (1999-2003)

 

  • Three years operating as a member, element leader and lead trainer of a multi-jurisdictional counter-drug unit responsible for operations in a three state region of the eastern United States with responsibility for training unit members and leading them on LE operations.  (1999-2001)

 

 

 

 

  • Three years as an advisor/instructor to the Special Forces of the United Arab Emirates with  responsibility for planning and implementing special operations skills training.  (1995-1998)

 

  • Three years as the Team Sergeant of a Special Operations Military Freefall Detachment with 5th SFG(A),  responsible for training/leading eleven personnel in the conduct of special reconnaissance and  direct action operations with emphasis on specialized urban combat.  (1992-1995)

 

  • Two years as the Senior Demolition’s Sergeant of a Special Operations Military Freefall Detachment with 5th SFG(A), responsible for all areas pertaining to demolitions, while working as a member of a special reconnaissance and direct action operations team.  (1990-1992)

 

 

  • Two years as an assault team leader with a US Army Special Mission Unit (SMU), with responsibility for planning, conducting and teaching counter terrorism and urban special operations techniques. Specialized in Close Quarter Combat, Personnel Recovery and Urban Special Operations. Responsible for the training, performance and professional growth of assaulters in an active, operational, direct action CT Element.  (1988-1990)

 

 

  • Developed course curriculum and was a lead instructor within the USAJKFSWCS for the Special Forces counter terrorism training program (SFARTAETC) and the Special Operations Training Course (SOTC) with personal responsibility for interior tactics (CQB). (1986-1988)

 

  • Developed course curriculum and was a lead instructor for Special Operations Training (SOT) at Mott Lake Compound as a member of 5th SFG(A).  (1985-1986)

 

  • Three years as the Communications Sergeant of a Special Operations Military Free-Fall Detachment with 5th SFG(A), responsible for all areas pertaining to communications while working as a member of a special reconnaissance and direct action operations team.  (1984-1985)

 

  • Twenty five years training and supervising US and friendly foreign law enforcement/military personnel in the use of demolition’s, specialty marksmanship, small unit tactics, interior  tactics (CQB), counter terrorism operations, urban special operations and air operations. (1981-present)

 

  • Instructor for specialized tactical methods of entry courses/ including explosive breaching. (1986 - present)

 

  • Instructor for police tactical response team training seminars.  (1986 -present)

SIGNIFICANT CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • Developed Urban Combat and Counter terrorism Doctrine as part of five specialized Programs of Instruction supporting new Department of the Army, US Special Operations Command and US Army Special Forces Command directed courses.

 

  • Developed and taught specialized courses of instruction for the United Arab Emirates Special  Operations Forces that includes but is not limited to;  small unit tactics, air operations (rotary/fixed wing), airborne operations, demolition’s, airfield seizure operations, mobility, special  reconnaissance, room combat (CQB) and marksmanship.

 

  • Designed and developed a world premier training facility capable of teaching and sustaining a variety of specialized skills to include counter terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, law enforcement special operations, hazardous materials response, emergency medical response, specialized fire fighting operations and military urban combat.

 

  • Developed, authored and implemented an Advanced Urban Combat Training program within the 19th SFG(A) as part of a US Army Special Forces Command directed initiative to train and sustain specialized urban combat skills as an integral part of the global war on terrorism (GWOT).

 

  • Developed, authored and implemented an Enhanced Reconnaissance/Direct Action concept within 2/19 SFG(A) which resulted in the stand-up and validation of a specialized 36 man element capable of executing all phases of special operations in permissive, uncertain, denied, or politically sensitive areas with emphasis upon counter-terrorism as an integral part of the global war on terrorism (GWOT).

 

  • Developed, authored and implemented a law enforcement special operations tactical training (SWAT) model for the country of Kosovo as part of a US DOJ / ICITAP law enforcement training initiative.

 

  • Awarded thirty four commendations for initiative and achievement including the Bronze Star Medal for actions inside Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, Meritorious Service Medal for Operation Summer Return (Somalia), the Bronze Star Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal for Valor during Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and the Meritorious Service Medal (awarded for 21 years of Special Operations Service and Achievement).
