WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION (WMD) RESPONSE COURSE

This course is designed to prepare personnel for operations relative to weapons of mass destruction (WMD).  These operations focus mainly on first response and all related activities.   The program is also a good informative package on the overall activities and case histories of national, international and trans-national extremist criminal/terrorist organizations and their respective operations. Training includes an introduction to terrorist/extremist criminal operations (including domestic terrorists), organizing and training WMD incident first responders, the WMD threat (chemical/biological/nuclear), duties and responsibilities of the first responder, individual protective measures, specialized equipment for protection and detection, specialized operations in the WMD environment and inter-agency cooperation during crisis management.  Also included will be a tactical overview of WMD response with an introduction to a variety of specialized operational areas.  Students will also participate in a challenging WMD scenario in which an actual event will be staged and student input will determine the actions taken and outcome of the event.
